They built the interior match with the culture in every country. The taste and the ingredients is change too, according to the place.

Nevertheless there are significant cultural communities within New York State in which Spanish, Chinese, Hebrew, Arabic, or another language is dominant. Moreover, they built Chinatown for Chinese whom live in United States.
  • The Irish are cheered when they have their St. Patrick Day parades in United States. The Italians, while they face some opposition from radical American Indians, are still able to celebrate Colombus' Day parades.

ESSAY
In Indonesia some people still look the others by him or her face. If the face full of scar they think that person is criminals or ex-prisoners. They think like that because Indonesian it’s too much watching dramas. So, they can’t open their minded to accept every people without have a negative thinking. Moreover there is some citizen look the others by their skin. If the skin got darker, they think that person is dirty. Besides that, maybe their generation from the dark skin. If there is a citizen thought like that we not going to be a developed countries if we still like to underestimate the others.

Task : 1. What parts of our material culture reflect Cultural Diffusion?
          2. Please give three examples of Ethnocentrism!
Essay : Please give your own comment about global diffusion in Indonesia! (at least 50 words)

  1. In social media. Almost all of teenagers had a Facebook, Twitter, Path, etc. That social media was from another country and very popular in Indonesia. In fact, the teenagers in Indonesia doesn’t know that we have own social media like Nyunyu.com (something like Twitter). Even is not good enough like the other social media but we must appreciate everything from our country. Maybe we must increase our unbelieving about any product from our country. If we always seen the bad thing of our country, who is going to appreciate it.

  • In England many believed that the darker a person is the "dirtier and impure" they are. Some people believed that some races were not even races. Instead they were considered animals and not humans. One would expect that with so much diversity adaptations would develop, however, racial intensity rose to new heights.
  • Imperialism, the practice of taking over other lands, was heavily practiced by Europe starting in the sixteenth century.
  • Believe that our religion is better than somebody else's. It’s one of kind ethnocentrism, because every religion teaches us the best thing to do in life, not the worst thing.
ESSAY
Global Diffusion in Indonesia is quite disturbing me. Like so many fast food that the entrepreneur built in many places. The price started from the cheapest one until the highest one according to the quality. And usually people who always buy fast food is a person who need something to eat but they can grab it fast without takes a longer time to cook. If we often consuming fast food, the production of our brain will be increasing gently. Because Indonesian have been pampered with every facilities. And they forget to do some exercises to balance their body.

Task : 1. What are the similarities or the differences between Ethnocentrism and Cultural Relativism?
          2. Please give three examples of Cultural Shock!
Essay : Please give your own comment about Cultural Lag in Indonesia! (at least 50 words)

  1. Ethnocentrism is the practice of judging another culture by the standards of one's own culture. It creates a biased evaluation of unfamiliar practices. The evaluations of cultural variations in the maintenance of personal space or bathroom practices are illustrations of this concept. Cultural relativism is the practice of judging a culture by its own standards. The issue of cultural sensitivity related to international business ventures is amusing, but there are some cultural practices which are deeply disturbing, such as child labor in various parts of the world. This suggests that perhaps there are some universal standards we could identify as necessary rather than accepting any behavior within the context of cultural relativity.

  • The similarities between Ethnocentrism and Cultural Relativism, both are means of judging other groups and their culture.
  • The differences between Ethnocentrism and Cultural Relativism: Ethnocentrism is quite different than that of cultural relativism. Terms such as underdeveloped and primitive are prime examples of the ignorance societies use to describe another. A person with an ethnocentric perspective may view other cultures as deviations from what is "normal". The history of the English serves as a prime example of ethnocentric beliefs. Discrimination plays a direct role in the ethnocentric belief. During the exploration period the discrimination against blacks by whites was a major controversial issue.

2. A young native Canadian moves from the Northwest Territories to attend university in Toronto, Ontario. The easiest thing for him to make a good society is interact with Toronto dialect.

  • Niken wanted to work in capital city. So she went to Jakarta for a better work. The difficulties she got when she arrived in the downtown, she didn’t speak fluently with the capital languages. Because she was from java, so she was unusual with it. So she learned to interact with the society with the new languages for her. And she also tried harder to live in town which known as “the tight city”.
  • There is a hug cultural difference between society in Pakistan and the modern society of the States. In Pakistan society there is a joint family system, the children live together with their parents whether they are under 18 or not. In United States, there is a concept of "individualism". Everyone has an individual life, making their own decisions for everything. In US, a person over 18 living with his parents is considered an immature person. In Pakistan, a person not living with his parents doesn't have a respectable place in the society, because it is their social and religious custom to take care of their parents.

I didn’t what we were doing during we waited for the sunset. I forgot, hahaha. I thought we just have chit chat, like telling the funny story about our friends each other, or did the silly thing. We also never forgot to captured many picture in there with so many style. And we tried to ask the fishermen whom wanted to start doing their job. Start from the price of every fish until the income of their occupation every day. Beside that the environment in the Ancol is not clean enough. Maybe because the place was rebuilding, so that’s why the place made one higher. But I went there one year ago. If you go there now maybe that place gonna beautiful to visit. To enter Ancol is cheap enough.
